Shark Teeth!
Fossilized shark tooth in a mini, decorative 2ml bottle. Tooth was found on the shores of Calvert County, Maryland.
~During the Miocene era, Southern Maryland was under a subtropical sea (the Salisbury Embayment) that served as a breeding ground for marine life, providing abundant prey for sharks.
~The iconic Calvert Cliffs are continuously eroded by rain, wind, and the Chesapeake Bay, washing new fossils and shark teeth onto the beaches, particularly after storms.
~Dozens of shark species lived there including the Megalodon, along with whales, rays, and dolphins, leaving behind immense numbers of teeth
